Some of these groups might be worth getting in contact with to see what they might need to get restarted. Some of these groups are on hold until conditions worsen, but might be available for information or resources. Some of these groups are probably still active and just not posting / haven't submitted an edit to this website. ADD AN ORG
EDIT/REMOVE AN ORG
put together and managed by one (singular) comrade.
your patience is appreciated.
WHAT? The main requirement is that the org is ACTIVE and PROVIDING AID to the PORTLAND, OREGON (and surrounding areas) community and FOR FREE (excluding donations from willing volunteers). I do consider social groups that uplift and build community for marginalized groups to be providing aid.
WHY? There appeared to be a need for a central space to find places to volunteer with or donate to, so I decided to attempt to address that need with the resources I had available to me. Many of these organizations did the exact same thing. If you happen upon a need in the community that you have the capability to fill, I highly encourage you to do so. (I plan on adding resources for this here soon.) Keep in mind however, you don't need to reinvent the wheel to participate. There are plenty of organizations who need helping hands. See if any of them are a good fit for you and your skills!
HOW? The website itself is build with Carrd using template #187 Henry Case. I purchased the URL "pdxma.info" for $3/yr through Namecheap. I highly encourage people in other cities who feel inclined and capable to do the same, or to seek someone who is inclined and capable to take the task.
I do not wish to platform harmful organizations or people. If there is something absolutely egregious and unforgivable I need to be informed of, please let me know and I'd be more than happy to remove any relevant orgs from the website so that they do not cause further harm. That being said, I do not care about minor disagreements.
